Key players: Bow – Ella Gray (goal)

Highlights: Gray scored the only goal of the match with 1:38 left in the first quarter as the Falcons picked up a huge homecoming victory, handing the Cavaliers their first loss of the season. Gray’s goal was the first that Hollis-Brookline has allowed all season.

Highlights: The Generals defeated the Sabers on Saturday in a rematch of last year’s semifinal.

Highlights: Kingswood jumped on top with two goals in the first quarter. Momentum started going Pembroke’s way in the second quarter and the Spartans spent the majority of the remainder of the game in Kingwood’s end, but could find the back of the cage.

Key players: Bow – Brady Lover (TD pass, 124 rush yards on 9 carries), Kody McCranie (60 yard TD catch; PAT), Caleb Schumacher (80 yard TD run, 109 yards on 14 carries)

Highlights: Schumacher scored his touchdown in the first quarter, Lover connected with McCranie for a TD in the second and Lover scored on a long run in the third to close out the scoring in Bow’s homecoming victory.

Highlights: The Generals fell to an undefeated Sabers team at home in Weare on Friday night. Both of John Stark’s losses have been to undefeated teams so far, but have a more favorable schedule moving forward.

Records: Souhegan 3-0; John Stark 1-2

Merrimack Valley 16, St. Thomas 12

Key players: MV – Travis Garcia (fumble recovery TD, defensive line; 22-yard FG), Mike Heine (54 yard TD catch; defensive end), Colby Sheffer (linebacker), Reece Claremont (running back and linebacker)

Highlights: After a scoreless first half, Garcia recovered a fumble in the end zone for a touchdown at the beginning of the second half and also connected on a 22-yard field goal in the third quarter. The Pride’s defense secured the game when MV stripped the ball from the Saints and Heine recovered it on the 7.

Farmington-Nute 14, Bishop Brady 13, OT

Key players: Bishop Brady – Dan Shedd (7 yard TD run), Cole Chandler (25 yard TD run), Anthony Dow (1-for-2 PAT)

Highlights: Farmington-Nute went up 6-0 in the first half after scoring on its first possession of the game. Shedd tied the game midway through the third quarter to force overtime. Brady had the ball first in OT, with Chandler running the ball into the end zone to go up 13-6. Brady nearly sealed the victory, forcing Farmington-Nute to be in a fourth and goal on the 2-yard line, but got called for encroachment, and the Tigers punched the ball in from the 1 and made the 2-point conversion.

Highlights: The Cougars played a solid defensive game, trailing just 10-0 at halftime and receiver Ruckman caught at touchdown pass from Naughton to make it 10-7 early in the second half, but too many mental errors and miscues cost Kearsarge down the stretch.

Boys’ Soccer

Concord 1, Nashua South 0

Key players: Concord – Dean Ayotte (goal), Kaelan Williams (assist), Festo Bahininwa (13 saves)

Highlights: The Crimson Tide won its first game of the season, with Ayotte scoring in the 23rd minute. Deidu Lukuse took a corner kick with Williams heading the ball down to 6-yard box, where Ayotte collected the ball and placed it by the South keeper. Bahininwa four spectacular saves to preserve the shutout.

Coach’s quote: “One of the best performances by a Concord goalkeeper in recent history. A total team effort to secure the first win of the season.” – Concord’s Scott Dunlop

Bow 3, Oyster River 2

Key players: Bow – Carter Weiss (2 goals), Milo Cocola (goal), Luke Hartshorn (assist), Ben Reardon

Highlights: After Weiss opened the scoring in the 21st minute, Oyster River equalized within a minute. The Bobcats went up 2-1 midway through the second half. With 15 minutes remaining, Oyster River saved a penalty kick, but Cocola was able to get the rebound to level the score. With three minutes remaining, Hartshorn played Weiss through on goal for the third and decisive goal, handing the first-place Bobcats their first loss of the season.

Coach’s quote: “This was a solid result against a skillful and well-coached team. The team showed great resilience to come from behind in the second half to get a result. We hope to build on this result as the season carries on.” – Bow’s Josh Smith

Coe-Brown 3, Laconia 1

Key players: Coe-Brown – Ryan Kouchoukos (2 assists), Travis Schultz (goal), Brady Colgan (goal), Tommy Maskwa (goal)

Highlights: Laconia scored in the second half and had a chance to cut Coe-Brown’s lead to 3-2, but goalie Steve Phillips made a massive point-blank save.

Coach’s quote: “We limped into this game with injuries to four starters, but our whole team was involved tonight. Our guys executed the game plan well and had control of the ball for big stretches. We’ll see if we can build on this heading into our next few matches.” – Coe-Brown’s Christian Gompert

Hopkinton 3, Fall Mountain 0

Key players: Hopkinton – Kristof Cauley (goal), Travis Windhurst (goal), Evan Gregory (goal), Cody Charron (assist), Hunter Eckner-Naylor (save); Fall Mtn. – Ben Wightman (8 saves)

Highlights: Despite poor field conditions, the Hawks linked passes and quick touches, resulting in many scoring chances, but most shots were blocked by the Wildcat defense. Cauley finally broke in the 50th minute with a well-placed ball from 35 yards out. Windhurst followed that effort with a similar shot from 40 yards out. Gregory scored his first varsity goal just before the final whistle on yet another tough shot from distance.

Girls’ Soccer

Bow 8, Oyster River 0

Highlights: Van Dyke got the Falcons’ offense started with a goal just 2:06 into the match off a great cross from Farr. Seven different players scored and five more had assists to lift Bow to a commanding homecoming victory.

Coach’s quote: “We played really well, against an undermanned Oyster River team who kept playing hard throughout the game which is a credit to them. The girls came ready to play and continued for the full 90 minutes. Time to catch our breath and relax.” – Bow’s Jay Vogt

Key players: Coe-Brown – Ellie Escabi (4 goals, assist), Bella Lapierre (2 goals, assist), Jaelyn Demers (2 goals), Bristol Sheridan (assist), Jadyn Spearin (assist), Jennifer Noni (assist)

Highlights: The Bears scored just 28 seconds into the game when the duo of Escabi and Lapierre connected. Demers finished on a cross from Escabi just two minutes later and Coe-Brown took control of the match. Sheridan recorded her first varsity assist, finding Demers in the 65th minute.

Coach’s quote: “The balanced attack has been something we have been working on all season. The unselfish play and team-first dynamic has been great to see. With some tough games next week with Lebanon and Bow we will need to be focused and execute.” – Coe-Brown’s Josh Hils

Highlights: LaPorte made a great save on a direct kick, and Isabelle Johnson threw the ball in to Davis who put a shot past Brady’s keeper.

Highlights: The Hawks were up 2-0 at halftime and scored a third before the Wildcats got one back off of a Hawks own goal.

Key players: Kearsarge – Joleigh Root (goal), Nadia Spiegel (defense), Madden Huff (defense), Carly Grant (midfield), Bella Collins (midfield), Maelle Jacques (11 saves)

Highlights: Both defenses controlled their end of the field turning back anything that came in, but Root scored in the 15th minute off a rebound for the game-winning goal. Both Stevens and Kearsarge worked hard through their midfield play to create opportunities, but both defenses stood strong. The Cardinals applied a lot of pressure in the final minutes, but great saves from Jaques kept the sheet clean.
