Bishop Brady 9, Gilford 2

Key players: Bishop Brady – Jack Speiss (7 IP, 18 K, 1 H; HR, RBI, 2 runs), Ryan Bossch (2 RBI), Luke Bedard (hit, run, RBI), Henry Thresher (2 hits, double, 2 runs, SB), Max Guerra (hit, 2 runs, SB), John McKerley (2 RBI), Winn Thomas (hit, run, SB)

Highlights: Speiss pitched a complete game one hitter, striking out 18, to lead the Giants to their third consecutive victory to open the season at Rollins Park. Bossch hit a two-run single in the bottom of the second inning to give Brady an early lead and the Giants added three more runs in the third thanks to a Bedard sacrifice fly and an RBI groundout from McKerley. Speiss carried a no hitter into the seventh inning before Gilford finally got on the scoreboard with a two-run triple with two outs.

Highlights: The Falcons put forward another team effort in all phases of the game and used a third quarter scoring burst to coast to their second win of the season.

Highlights: MV scored two quick goals and maintained a solid lead in the first half before Hollis-Brookline stepped up its defense and scored some unanswered goals in the second half to keep the game close. But the Pride controlled the draw and was patient on the attack to secure the win.

Boys’ Tennis

Lebanon 9, Coe-Brown 0

Highlights: The Bears fell on the road against the defending champions.

Highlights: The Bears did very well on the track, while the Generals swept the throws, but in the end Coe-Brown came out on top in a four-team meet in Northwood. Calle had the most individual victories, winning three events.

Highlights: Concord won eight events to Portsmouth’s seven, but the host Clippers won the tri-meet on their home track.
