Highlights: The Raiders finished off a game started on April 11 with a walkoff two-run single by Haskins in the bottom of the 11th inning, scoring Divers and Waldron. Gilford scored three runs in the top of the 11th to go up 11-8. In the bottom of the 11th, Matt Krasnecki scored on an error in the outfield, Eddie Rochenski scored when Underhill was hit by a pitch, and Divers and Waldron came home on Haskins’ grounder to left. There were six lead changes over the 11 innings played.
Coach’s quote: “In a game that certainly produced several white knuckle moments, it’s no surprise that these teams continued with a flair for the dramatic. We tip our cap to Gilford, they came out and took advantage of Liam as he didn’t have his best stuff. I give a ton of credit to Liam for regaining his composure and ending the threat. It was awesome to see our team respond in the bottom frame as we have had our fair share of tough luck baseball over the last week or so. If we’re going to win games, we need contributions from everyone and that’s what we got.” – Belmont’s Matt LeBlanc

Belmont 12, Gilford 0

Highlights: Belmont took a 1-0 lead in the first inning, put up four more in the second and plated seven runs in the seventh. Waldron pitched well in the starting role after closing out the suspended game earlier in the afternoon, earning his second win of the day.
Coach’s quote: “Though it was cold and windy, Liam Waldron pitched more like himself throughout the second game. Any time you can keep a team to zero walks and 10 strikeouts, earn two wins in the same day, it’s a good one. We were able to take advantage of seven walks and combine that with some timely hitting to have a nice offensive day after some struggles over the past week. We know that Gilford wasn’t able to rely on their normal pitching rotation, and gave some guys an opportunity to toe the rubber and have some fun, but it was a much needed pair of wins nonetheless. Hopefully we can keep it going as we move forward.” – Belmont’s Matt LeBlanc
