A 22-year-old man has been accused of attempted murder and other crimes following a shooting in Rollins Park in what police described as a marijuana deal gone bad.
Makeeva Laroche, 22, of Concord, was charged one count of attempted murder following an attempted marijuana robbery earlier this month, according to the court documents. Laroche was also charged with attempted robbery with a firearm, falsifying physical evidence, criminal threatening, reckless conduct, and assault.
Concord police responded to the area of the park around 8:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 7, after area residents reported hearing gunshots. No one involved in the incident was in the park when police arrived but investigators later identified a person who had been stuck by a bullet in the head. The person was taken to Concord Hospital with a non-life-threatening wound and later released.
Laroche concealed the guns used in the shooting inside a shed at 6 Fellow Street, within about a half-mile of the park, according to police.
On October 25, police obtained an arrest warrant for Laroche.
Laroche was “processed without incident at the Concord Police Department,” police said. Laroche was taken to the Merrimack County House of Corrections and was scheduled to be arraigned in Concord District Court on Monday.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Paul Shaughnessy of the Concord Police Criminal Investigations Division (603-225-8600) or the Concord Regional Crimeline (603-226-3100).
