The three people killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Route 101 in Candia Saturday afternoon have been identified.

State police originally responded to a reported head-on collision between two vehicles around 12:20 p.m. On scene, police determined that the driver of a 2010 Toyota Tundra, identified as Michael Wescott, 59, of Greenville, was speeding on the eastbound side of the highway when the vehicle side-swiped a 2018 Nissan Sentra, according to state police.

The Tundra then struck a guardrail on the eastbound side, veered across the center median and onto the westbound side of the highway, striking a 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer head-on, authorities said.

Wescott was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Wagoneer, 77-year-old Richard Courville, of North Hampton, was also pronounced dead there. The Wagoneer’s passenger, Denise Courville, 65, also of North Hampton, was brought to Elliot Hospital via ambulance and died there, according to state police

The driver and passenger of the Nissan Sentra, identified as Timothy McMahon, 57, and Kelly McMahon, 18, respectively, both of Peterborough, suffered non-life-threatening injuries and were brought to Elliot Hospital as a precaution, authorities said

Both sides of Route 101 were closed until westbound traffic could be rerouted. Eastbound lanes were then reopened. The westbound side was closed for about four hours while police investigated, police said.

State police were assisted by the Raymond and Auburn police departments, the Candia and Raymond fire departments, and the state Department of Transportation, according to authorities.

The crash remains under investigation.
