Letter: Resisting the oligarchy

Toss it up to naivete, falling prey to fear tactics, ignorance, cult-following or just plain old idolatry. A darkness falls upon this country, and democracy is under siege.

While, in our weariness, it may feel safer and less tiresome to just close our eyes and ears, we cannot. We must all resist the parasitic attempts to whitewash the truths behind President Trump’s administration, Project 2025 and the oligarchs funding self-serving efforts. If any of you thought that Elon Musk and his like have your best interest at heart, you are sorely mistaken. They don’t care about you, your family, the environment or democracy. This is no Robin Hood story but rather that of a parasite that will take and take to enrich itself.

Your voice, your votes and your concerns will fall upon deaf ears as the sound of their wallets open to lawmakers who are weak and succumb to doing their bidding. The darkness will come with polluted air as they remove clean air protections and destroy protected lands. It will come with polluted waters as they remove clean water protections and regulations. It will come when the voice of the average American is no longer heard over the greedy wheels of oligarchy and authoritarianism.

That’s unless we unite, resist and never stay silent.
