Gibson’s Bookstore will host bestselling author Jennifer Finney Boylan for an event featuring her new book, Cleavage: Men, Women, and the Space Between Us. Boylan will be joined in conversation by fellow author and collaborator Jodi Picoult. The event will take place on Thursday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m. at the Grappone Conference Center, 70 Constitution Avenue, Concord.
Tickets are available online through Eventbrite and include admission for one person and a copy of Cleavage. A signing line will follow the discussion.
Cleavage explores the divisions and shared experiences between genders, blending Boylan’s personal reflections as a transgender woman with broader insights into identity, relationships, and societal change. The book reflects on Boylan’s journey, comparing her experiences of coming out as trans in 2000—when responses were often characterized by love and support—with the current cultural climate, which has seen increased fear and backlash.
Boylan examines how gender shapes self-perception, body image, and interpersonal connections. She reflects on her womanhood, her relationships with men, and her evolving identity as a writer, parent, activist, and spouse. Combining humor and poignancy, Boylan provides an honest look at the complexities of navigating life in two genders while offering hope for a world where everyone can live authentically.
Jennifer Finney Boylan is the author of 19 books, including the groundbreaking memoir She’s Not There, the first bestselling work by a transgender American. She co-authored the novel Mad Honey with Jodi Picoult. Boylan holds the Anna Quindlen Writer in Residence position at Barnard College and has served in leadership roles at PEN America and GLAAD. Her work has appeared in The New York Times, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, and more.
Jodi Picoult, a prolific author of 28 novels including Mad Honey and My Sister’s Keeper, will join Boylan for this special event. Picoult’s works are known for addressing contemporary social issues with depth and empathy.
This event offers an opportunity to hear from two acclaimed authors as they discuss the intersections of identity, storytelling, and societal change. For tickets and additional information, visit Eventbrite.
