Developing Gaza into a Mediterranean seaside resort is crazy. It might be one of President Trump’s stupidest and most costly ideas yet. Did anyone cast a vote in the presidential election for the U.S. taking possession of Gaza? Did anyone cast a vote to be able to buy a condo in Gaza? Nobody did, as this was not an issue in the 2024 election.

President Trump alleges that he can take over Gaza “under U.S. authority.” Please, point me to specific legal authority for seizing land in the Mideast. And point me to specific legal authority for moving millions of people off the land they live on. Trump is treating Gaza like a land deal in Florida – except that he is talking about seizing the land, not buying it. Even if he were talking about buying it, it would be a forced sale where the seller does not want to sell. I despise Hamas and would love to see it destroyed. But making Gaza into a playground for Trump’s wealthy cronies is not the way to make that happen. Stealing Gaza will breed future generations of terrorists for years to come. And it will leave the U.S. with an enormous tax bill. If you thought you were getting a smaller government, think again. The Department of Condominium Development, Sales and Rentals will be a very costly government agency.
