A Concord woman charged with taking off from Concord Hospital in a stolen ambulance over the weekend was held without bail pending a mental health evaluation.

Ashley Coleman, 42, of Concord, was arrested Friday night and charged with receiving stolen property, theft by unauthorized taking, driving with a revoked license and resisting arrest after police say she took an ambulance from Concord Hospital.

At around 7:25 p.m. Concord Police were alerted by Concord Hospital security that a Lifestar ambulance had been stolen from the emergency bay, according to Lieutenant Thomas Yerkes.

The report led to police cars fanning out through the city. The ambulance was located about a half an hour later at Trinity Baptist Church on Clinton Street.

Yerkes said it’s not clear what prompted Coleman to get behind the wheel of the ambulance. She due to appear in court on Monday and was held without bail pending an evaluation.
