Allenstown

The Old Home Day parade will be held on Aug. 24 with the parade starting at 10 a.m. on School Street in Allenstown. The parade will go down School Street to Main Street into Pembroke and down Pleasant Street to Memorial Field, where a lot of activities will be going on: raffles, games, music, and food. Come and join in the fun.

The Allenstown Supervisor of the Checklist will hold a session on Aug. 31 from 11 to 11:30 a.m. at the Allenstown Town Hall, 16 School Street. You will not be able to change party affiliation at this time.

Bear Brook State Park still has summer events going on, and on Aug. 24, there is a Ford Bronco Wild Fund at the Bathhouse Pavilion/Trails. Also, on Aug. 24 and 25 at Hayes Field, they are holding a Dynamic Cycling Clinic.

The Town of Allenstown will hold the state primary election on Sept. 10 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Allenstown Elementary School, 30 Main Street.

St. John the Baptist Sainte Therese Rosebush Society will meet on Aug. 28 at 6 p.m. at the Parish Hall.

The Knights of Columbus will be hosting a Freewill Offering Back to Church BBQ after 4 p.m. Mass on Sept. 7 and will serve BBQ chicken, hamburgers, hot dogs, chips, corn on the cob, coleslaw, drinks, and desserts. Takeout is available.

The Annual Parish Penny Sale will take place from Oct. 25 to 27, and they are looking for donations of new items, cash donations, or gift certificates. These can be brought to the Parish Office from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.

The Suncook Senior Center will hold a Back to School Celebration BBQ at 9 a.m. on Aug. 29. The fourth Friday of every month at 10 a.m., they will learn how to play a new game called Hand, Foot, and Elbow. It sounds like a lot of fun. Bone Builders is held from 8:45 to 9:45 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday. Bingo is held from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday and Thursday. Klunk is held from 12:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday and Thursday. Chair Yoga is held from 9 to 10 a.m. on Tuesday, and the cost is $5. Cribbage Club is held from 10:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Tuesday.

Boscawen

Today is Boscawen Old Home Day!

Swanky Swine are colorfully decorating Boscawen neighborhoods and streets, and the winners will be announced today at Jamie Welch Park. Kudos to all the creative folks who participated!

The parade starts at 11 a.m. at the Town Offices parking lot and heads up North Main Street, ending at Boscawen Elementary School.

Stop by the Craft Fair at the Boscawen Congregational Church Park from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. A food truck will be available.

Jamie Welch Park is the site of fun and games for kids and adults following the parade. A cornhole tournament starts at 12 p.m., and a basketball tournament at 4 p.m. for $25 per team. Food trucks will be available from noon to dusk.

Twiggs Gallery is hosting their Annual Poetry Reading, Open Mic & Pie on Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. Itโ€™s free and delicious.

Terra String Quartet from Avaloch Farm Music Institute will play at Twiggs Gallery on Wednesday from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Supervisors of the Checklist are available on Tuesday from 6 to 6:30 p.m. for voter registration applications and changes. No other changes can be made to the list until Election Day.

The Select Board meets on Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the fourth-floor conference room at the Town Office Building.

The First Friday Coffee House at the Congregational Church resumes on Sept. 6 with Mary Fagan and the Honey Bees.
