A police pursuit of a Rumney man suspected of domestic abuse put NHTI under a shelter-in-place order Monday night. 

State and Concord police departments believed Charles Cutting II, 37, was armed. A warrant had been issued for his arrest on three counts of second-degree assault, four counts of domestic violence and one count of criminal threatening. 

Around 8 p.m. Monday evening, police located Cutting in a parking lot on Hall Street in Concord.  He allegedly fled from police, according to a State Police spokesperson.

Police followed Cutting onto Interstate 93, taking Exit 14 in a brief pursuit before losing sight of him. Authorities switched to a search of the area’s roads and lots.

Cutting was able to discard his vehicle at NHTI, and the campus was required to shelter-in-place. 

Cutting fled into the woods between the college and the eastbound lanes of Interstate 393, where police said they found and arrested him during a search of the campus and adjacent walking trails. 

The incident resulted in additional charges for Cutting, including disobeying an officer, reckless conduct, and reckless operation.

NHTI was under a shelter-in-place for about 45 minutes.
