Four victims were transported to a hospital following a rollover crash in Hopkinton on Monday afternoon, according to New Hampshire State Police.

Troopers responded to reports of a two-vehicle rollover near mile marker 9.4 on I-89 South at 3:25 p.m.

After arriving on scene, Troopers observed a 2003 Toyota Matrix lying on its side “entangled” with a 2017 Volkswagen Golf. The vehicles were found off the road in the wooded median between the interstate’s northbound and southbound lanes. Authorities noted that multiple trees had fallen on both vehicles, hindering rescue efforts.

The three individuals in the Toyota Matrix were transported to a hospital with serious injuries. The sole occupant of the Volkswagen Golf was also transported to a hospital for a precautionary evaluation.

Following the crash, State Police closed both southbound lanes of I-89 for approximately one hour. One lane reopened after those involved in the crash were extricated from their vehicles.

Members of the Hopkinton, Concord, Weare and Bow fire departments assisted State Police at the scene, and the state Department of Transportation assisted with traffic control and lane closures.

The identities of those involved are being withheld as an investigation into the cause of the crash continues.
