Letter: Project 2025 is upon us

Prior to the 2024 election, I expressed my deep concern that many Americans were “sleepwalking ” into that election and could awaken to an unrecognizable America. Regrettably, that nightmare is upon us.

The new far-right Project 2025, which President Trump deceitful claimed he had no knowledge of, has been the blueprint for the first four weeks of this administration. In one destructive order after another, Trump has managed to decimate whole government agencies which were created by Congress. These agencies provide valuable services and support to millions of Americans. Trump, claiming massive government waste, though nothing on such a scale has ever been found, has made it so thousands of government workers lost their jobs overnight. He has allowed DOGE led by an unelected plutocrat to access the private financial accounts of millions of Americans. So much for government “overreach.” Most economic experts believe Trump’s punitive tariffs will lead to increased consumer prices here. So much for lowering the cost of living. Leaving aside his unhinged foreign policy statements, the aforementioned actions are examples of his “scorched earth “policies.

When he stated he would be a “dictator on day one,” for once, he told the truth. What’s next? Abandoning the rule of law, censoring critical media, violating the 22nd Amendment and attempting to serve a third term or arresting political opponents as security risks? Don’t kid yourself. Nothing is too far fetched for Trump and the new far right.
