D-III Girls’ Lacrosse

No. 5 Bow 16, No. 4 John Stark 8

Highlights: Bow played a man down the entire fourth quarter due to four yellow cards, but the Falcons locked down defensively and still outscored the Generals to punch their tickets to the Division III semifinals. Bow led 5-4 at the end of the first quarter, 8-6 at halftime and 13-8 heading into the fourth. The Falcons were a man down with 3:34 left in the third quarter and remained that way for the rest of the game. Bow will play No. 1 St. Thomas (15-1) in Saturday’s semifinal at Bank of NH Stadium in Laconia at 6 p.m.

Coach’s quote: “Our defense was exceptional. We played the end of third quarter and the whole fourth quarter man down and Stark did not score at all. Our defense was locked and caused turnovers. Fantastic transition through the midfield all game.” – Bow’s Chris Raabe

Highlights: The Hawks flew out to a 6-2 lead in the first quarter, making their possessions count. The Cougars clawed back into the game in the second quarter, gaining possession at the draw circle and taking advantage of a Hopkinton card to score two goals and be down 9-6 at the half. The second half was a battle of clears and rides, defense and goaltending as Hopkinton held on to win and advance to the semifinals on Saturday. The Hawks will play No. 2 Gilford (13-2).

Highlights: Londonderry scored seven runs in the bottom of the first to build an early lead in the D-I preliminary round.

Highlights: With the game tied 3-3 through five innings, the Spartans pulled away over the final two innings to advance to Saturday’s quarterfinals. Pembroke will play against top-ranked Souhegan (17-1) on Saturday at Southern New Hampshire University at 4 p.m.

Guerra hit a two-run single and Speiss followed with another two-run single. Brady added four runs in the bottom of the fifth, with an RBI single by Thomas and a two-run single by Thresher en route to a preliminary round victory over the Rams. The Giants will host No. 6 Campbell (12-5) in Saturday’s quarterfinal.
