The Henniker Area Rotary Club will hold its rescheduled of the 2025 Rotary Rabies Clinic for Saturday, April 26, from 2-4 p.m. at the Henniker Fire Station. Proceeds from the clinic will be donated to Monadnock Kitty Rescue & Adoption, a no-kill cat sanctuary and adoption center for adoptable cats as well as feral cats. Many will spend their lives at the rescue site where they are cared for lovingly by our volunteers. The program has no paid personnel.

“Over the past 32 years, the club has vaccinated thousands of dogs, cats, rabbits and ferrets at the clinic and raised over $75,000 for charitable purposes benefiting Henniker, Hillsboro, Weare, Deering and surrounding communities,” said Dr. Robert Brust, chairman of this year’s event. “We are proud of the fact that owners from 15- 17 towns bring their pets to our clinic because of its reputation for organization and professionalism.”

Dr. Amy Jones, Dr. Kate Brust and staff of Henniker Veterinary Hospital will administer the vaccines, assisted by members of the Rotary Club and other community volunteers. Vaccinations for cats and dogs are $15 each for the first two pets and $10 for each additional pet. Jessica Mock, Certified pet nutritionist Jessica Mock will provide advice on the best diets for your pets as well as provide lots of pet food giveaways from Henniker Farm and Country Store. Alyssa Janelle from The Mutt Hut will offer nail clipping services at the clinic. Please bring all dogs on leashes and cats in cat boxes to protect them from the large numbers of animals that will be in attendance.

All rabies vaccine certificates will be written as one-year certificates unless the owner presents a signed, current rabies certificate for the dog or cat. Rabies tags alone will not be proof of a rabies vaccine. New certificates for animals with signed rabies certificates will be written as three-year certificates.

All dogs residing with their owners must be licensed by April 30 every year. Henniker Town Clerk Deb Aucoin will be on hand to register dogs for 2025 licensure. Licensure fees are: Puppy (4-7 months) or dogs that are spayed or neutered, $7.50. Adult dogs NOT spayed or neutered, $10.00, Senior Citizen dog owners, $3.00 (for the 1st dog only). Cats do not require licensure but should receive the rabies vaccine.

The Henniker Area Rotary Club is grateful to its community sponsors for helping to make the Annual Rabies Clinic possible: Advanced Benefit Design, A Precious Pet Resort, Ayer & Goss Fuels, Daniels Restaurant & Pub, Henniker Farm & Country Store, Merrimack County Savings Bank, The Mutt Hut and Media Partner, Granite Quill Publishers, The Messenger.
