A three-alarm blaze severely damaged a home along Lake Massasecum in Bradford Tuesday afternoon.
No one was home when firefighters were called around 2:30 p.m. to 72 Massasecum Lake Road for a reported building fire, the Bradford Fire Department said in a Facebook post.
First responders were met with “a large column of black smoke” when they arrived on scene, and found fire on both the first and second floors.
Crews were able to put out the fire before mutual aid from Sutton, Warner, New London, Hillsbory, and Newbury arrived.
The home has “pretty extensive” damage throughout, according to Bradford Fire Chief Bryan Nowell, noting that what wasn’t damaged by fire has either smoke or water damage.
“Temperature, in between the interior and the heat, has taken a toll on firefighters,” he said.
