The Concord High golf team couldn’t have asked for a better opening to the season. The Crimson Tide posted the best five scores of the day – led by sophomore Jaden Haas who earned medalist honors – as Concord carded a combined score of 190 to easily best Salem (205) and Manchester Memorial (221) on Wednesday at Derryfield Country Club.

Haas shot a 37 over nine holes, with Zach Nelson (38), Bobby Rochford (38), Cam Roy (38) and Carl Sirrianna (39) rounding out the scoring. Concord was the only team that had competitors shoot under 40.

The Tide showed its depth and its strength up and down the lineup card. Haas teed off as the No. 1 golfer, but Rochford was No. 6 and Roy played at No. 8, but beat teammates higher up the ladder.

“Anytime a team posts a team score of under 200 it’s a great day,” Concord head coach Mark McDonough said. “We had five players all shoot in the 30s today. Scores like that will win you a lot matches in high school golf. Great start to the season at Derryfield. The course is very straight forward and the greens are manageable. Very proud of how many players scored so well today.”

The Tide don’t have another match until Sept. 9, Concord’s home opener at Concord Country Club. The Tide will host Exter, Pinkerton and Merrimack.
