A Concord Man is facing drug and child endangerment charges related to an incident where an unresponsive middle school student was taken to Concord Hospital in January.
Shawn Jeffery, 47, was arrested Monday and released on personal recognizance bail. He faces the misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child as well as two felony charges for possession of a controlled drug and for “common nuisances,” a charge defined in state law as using property to consume, sell or produce drugs.
A Rundlett Middle School student was found unconscious at school on the morning of January 3 and taken to Concord Hospital, according to a police announcement. An investigation determined that the student had been “exposed to an illicit substance outside of school grounds.”
Rundlett Middle School staff and the Division for Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) participated in the investigation, police said, and police sent physical evidence from a Fisherville Road property out for testing, leading to Jeffery’s arrest Monday.
Concord Police and Concord School District officials could not be immediately reached Tuesday.
