Gibson’s Bookstore, in conjunction with New Hampshire Public Radio and the Capitol Center for the Arts, will welcome best-selling author Erik Larson (“The Splendid and the Vile”) to the Chubb Theater at the Capitol Center for the Arts for an evening of literary discussion of his new work of nonfiction, “The Demon of Unrest: A Saga of Hubris, Heartbreak, and Heroism at the Dawn of the Civil War,” as part of their author series, Authors on Main.

The No. 1 New York Times bestselling author brings to life the pivotal five months between the election of Abraham Lincoln and the start of the Civil War — a simmering crisis that finally tore a deeply divided nation in two.

Larson will be in conversation with NHPR’s Rick Ganley, host of NHPR’s Morning Edition.

The event will take place Tuesday, May 21, at 7 p.m. at the Capitol Center for the Arts. This is a ticketed event. To purchase tickets, visit https://www.ccanh.
