The top skiers from across all four NHIAA divisions competed at the Meet of Champions at Cannon Mountain’s Mittersill Ski Area on Tuesday, and five area skiers earned the ability to extend their Alpine season a little more.
Concord senior Ellie Worster won the girls’ slalom title, while Concord junior Mika Taylor and sophomore Lucas Golden, Hopkinton senior Merrick Chapin and Bow sophomore Madelyn Hebert finished in the top 10 overall to earn a spot on Team New Hampshire for the Eastern High School Championships.
Easterns will be contested March 7-9 at Mittersill Ski Area.
“In my 25 years of coaching, I never had three athletes make the Eastern team in the same year from Concord,” Concord head coach George Golden said.
Worster won the slalom with a combined time of 1 minute, 3.45 seconds from her two runs, ahead of runner-up Mackenna Price of Profile (1:06.28).
Taylor finished third in 1:07.05 and also finished eighth in the GS.
Hebert finished third in the GS with a time of 1:25.14, not far off from the champion, Kingswood’s Ava Waldron (1:23.31). Hebert also finished ninth in the slalom.
Belmont sophomore Ella Stevens (10th slalom, 11th GS), and Hopkinton juniors Marcella Guadagno (17th slalom) and Anne Pearce (12th GS, 23rd slalom), and Hopkinton sophomore Lia Chapin (16th GS) were the other top area girls who competed.
