Manchester West defeated a shorthanded Merrimack Valley JV boys’ basketball team, 63-42. MV was missing two starters, but fought hard in the loss. Brady Smith led MV with 12 points, and Chris Babonis and Ethan Dukette both scored nine. The Pride fall to 7-4.
■The Pembroke Academy JV boys’ basketball team improved to 9-1 with a 69-34 victory over Plymouth. Zach Bemis led PA with 20 points, and Devin Riel and Jacob Mather connected for 15 points each.
The N.H. Spartans, New Hampshire’s largest AAU basketball program, will be holding tryouts at the Derry Sports Center located at 7 A St., Derry, NH 03038. Tryouts will be open to boys and girls in grades 3-12 on Saturday.
