Medicare rebate — thank you

I received a letter from the President telling me of my eligibility for a $90 Medicare rebate. Below is my thank you letter to the President.

Dear Mr. President:

Please accept my heartfelt thanks for expressing your concern over healthcare costs and the need to put Americans in control of their healthcare. I agree that healthcare dollars should benefit patients, not insurance companies or government bureaucrats. With that in mind, I will be taking control of my healthcare by donating the $90 Medicare rebate I received today to federal office candidates that will:

1. Restore cuts to healthcare coverage and public health research funding.
2. Restore marketplace healthcare coverage to all lawful U.S. residents.
3. Protect the Medicare trust fund.
4. Stop downshifting healthcare costs to the states.
5. Support preservation and expansion of rural health care services.
6. Support federal appointees that make decisions based on facts and science rather than supposition and conspiracy theories.
7. Restore healthcare infrastructure that positions the country to rapidly respond to and withstand the next pandemic.
8. Repeal tariffs that have disrupted the drug and medical equipment supply chains.

The American public are not idiots. This Medicare rebate is political theater designed to be nothing more than political theater and the last word voters may hear before the coming election. To paraphrase James Madison in Federalist 53, “America has term limits. They are called elections.”
