Letter: NH seniors support Medicare Advantage

It’s the beginning of the year, which means federal officials will soon make decisions about Medicare that could impact my care. Our leaders in Washington need to keep Medicare Advantage stable by ensuring the 31 million Americans who rely on it, including myself, will continue to have access to the services and savings it provides. Ever since I enrolled in Medicare Advantage, it has been a huge help, in particular, the savings on prescriptions it has provided. Without Medicare Advantage, my Ozempic would cost nearly $2,000 a month. However, with my Medicare Advantage coverage, I pay $10.

Given the high inflation we are living with today, these savings have made my life so much better, helping me make the most of my retirement without having to worry quite as much about managing my medical expenses. On top of that, Medicare Advantage also covers my membership at the Concord YMCA and the programs and services I access there. Thanks to Medicare Advantage, I’m living a more active, healthier lifestyle. As federal officials look closely at Medicare in the coming weeks, I’m hopeful that New Hampshire’s lawmakers will help protect Medicare Advantage. I had the pleasure of participating in a roundtable discussion with Rep. Kuster and shared my support for Medicare Advantage, and I hope she’ll keep my thoughts in mind. Hopefully she and the rest of our congressional delegation can help keep Medicare Advantage secure for years to come.
