Letter: Elderly exemption is state law
Published: 02-01-2024 5:40 PM |
Once again the Monitor prints another story about people unable to pay ever increasing property taxes. Relief is available to people 65 and older, per state law, in every municipality in New Hampshire. It’s called elderly exemption, and every town passes its own limits on income, assets and deduction of property valuation. Call your assessor’s dept. for details, as the application is due in April. For some reason the Monitor chooses not to report on this valuable tax relief, all I can do is let readers know it’s available.
