Legislation for Medical Aid in Dying (MAID), last introduced in 2020, has been revived in New Hampshire. House Bill 1283 is a comprehensive and compassionate option for terminally-ill (<6 months life expectancy) New Hampshire citizens who want to preserve their inherent bodily autonomy and medical freedom to the very end. With few choices during this disheartening window, our loved ones can attain a level of comfort that protects their right of self-determination.

The bill’s safeguards are many, and include provisions for voluntary application, mental competency, vetting by two advanced care medical practitioners, waiting period, and revocability. If you agree that it’s time to adopt this much-needed, caring alternative, please contact representatives of the House Judiciary Committee and/or attend the public session on Feb. 7 at 10 a.m.
