Letter: NH voters say ceasefire in Gaza an Israel

On primary day a pop-up campaign garnered more than 1,500 write in votes for ‘Ceasefire.’ With approximately 1% of the vote this grassroots campaign raised awareness of the discontent among Democrats with President Biden’s policy in the Middle East. The visibility and energy of the campaign has been a phenomenal success in reflecting what polls show: an overwhelming number of the American people want peace in the Middle East and will use the power of their votes to call for it. Vote Ceasefire NH is excited to support organizers across the country who are currently mobilizing similar campaigns. We laid the groundwork for people across the country to build upon this movement, and are hopeful that they will see increased success with more time and money.
The campaign has been contacted by concerned voters and organizers who want to take action in as many as 15 other states, including Michigan and South Carolina. The Biden Administration cannot continue to ignore our message throughout this primary season. Elected officials across the country should also be on alert: their platforms must include supporting a ceasefire if they want our votes. Whether it be our marches, calls to elected leaders, or protests, President Biden has not paid attention to the voices of tens of thousands of Americans who want a ceasefire. So we used something we know he must pay attention to: our votes. I’m proud that our organization New Hampshire Peace Action came forward to provide organizational sponsorship to the effort.
