Letter: Experience is key

The media report that President Biden’s age deters people from voting for him in the upcoming election. I would suggest that, instead of focusing on Biden’s age, citizens consider how all his experience has led to an impressive record of accomplishment. I do not recall any president in my lifetime getting so much significant legislation through Congress. There is the American Rescue Plan, which provided COVID-19 relief funds and expanded child tax credits. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill enables repair of our nation’s ailing water pipes, trains, and roads. The Inflation Reduction Act makes the largest investment ever in fighting climate disruption and reduces the cost of several medications on which Americans rely.

In addition, on Biden’s watch, laws were passed that protect us from another attempt to overturn a fair election, that safeguard same-sex marriages, and shield us from gun violence. Moreover, Biden understands the value of democracy. In this he differs from former President Trump, who wants to become a dictator “on day one.” Please write in Joe Biden’s name at the bottom of your ballot on Tuesday. A win in our primary would give him a boost in contests nationwide.
