Letter: Write-in Joe Biden

Dictators only have to win once, democracies have to be constantly defended. On Jan. 23, Democratic and independent voters in NH can begin defending our democracy by writing in Joe Biden. Our country is facing the unimaginable: the leading GOP contender is not only facing 91 criminal indictments (in addition to being an adjudicated sexual abuser) but who is actually arguing in court that a president is not subject to criminal accountability even if he commits murder while in office! Just let that sink in. No matter how you feel about President Biden’s age, telegenic appearance, or policies (even though he is the most successful president of our lifetime) he is the only viable candidate that stands between American democracy and authoritarianism.

He is the only viable candidate that can keep America as leader of the free world rather than being isolated. He is the only viable candidate that stands between Americans enjoying freedom to make personal medical decisions and an extremist government making arbitrary medical decisions. He is the only viable candidate that will stand up for minority communities that will otherwise be attacked and stigmatized. And he is the only viable candidate that has a successful track record on climate change, industrial competitiveness, income disparity, and fighting middle class erosion. A strong showing by Biden as a write-in candidate on Jan. 23 will affirm New Hampshire’s leadership for how America really feels about the election in November. Write-in Joe Biden! There really is no other choice.
