JV result

The Concord High JV field hockey team defeated Keene, 4-1, with goals from Maddy Raymond, Maya Spataro, Lexi Bennett and Jordan Cromwell. Katlyn Spinney was strong in midfield and Riley Hollidge was strong on defense.

Middle school results

The Hopkinton girls’ soccer team defeated South Meadow School, 5-1. The Hawks got two goals each from Keegan St. Cyr and Kiley Ehrmanntraut. Audrey Davies finished off the scoring and added an assist. Lexi Lawler also had an assist.

■The Hopkinton boys’ soccer team defeated Weare, 2-1. Jonah Klingler and Lincoln Wilson scored off assists from Joe Yanzo and Kevin Ball. Colby Boisy made six saves, including a crucial save in the closing seconds of the match.

■The Rundlett “A” field hockey team defeated Hopkinton, 5-1. Margaret Sheehan scored two goals with assists by Emma LaRiviere and Brynn Reed. Camille Armaganian also scored two goals for Rundlett. Lilly Savoy had a goal her first of the season, assisted by Emma Beaujouan. Goalie Anna Gregg played well. For Hopkinton, Malena Delisle made several saves and Rose Finlayson scored.

UNH results

Sanbornton’s Rachel Thomson scored a goal, Katie Audino had a goal and an assist, and goalie Kelsey Rudert made a season-high nine saves to lead the University of New Hampshire field hockey team to a 3-2 upset victory over No. 18 Maine. UNH is 3-6 overall and 1-0 in America East play. Maine dropped to 8-2.

■Gabri Olhava had a team-high 14 kills and Maddie Wiedenfeld added eight to lead the UNH women’s volleyball team to a 3-0 win over Hartford. The Wildcats are 6-10 overall and 2-0 in America East play. Hartford fell to 7-7 and 0-2.

Events

Public ice skating at the Douglas N. Everett Arena in Concord will continue for the season through March 12. Skating hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays through Fridays, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays (starting Oct. 13) and 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Sundays. Admission is $5 (kids under age three are free) and skate rentals are available if needed for an additional $5. Cash or check accepted. Adult stick practice (ages 14 and up) will also be returning for the season through March 11. Practice hours will be Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10-11:20 a.m. Additional hours are available Monday through Thursday from 3:30-4:45 p.m. until Nov. 21. Admission is $10 (goalies have free entry). Helmet and gloves are required and full equipment is recommended. Youth stick practice (ages 13 and under) will continue through Nov. 23. Practice hours will be from 3:30-4:45 p.m. on Friday afternoons. Admission is $10 (goalies have free entry). Full equipment is required.

Franklin High School hosting New Hampshire Tackles Hunger Day on Saturday. Collections of non-perishable food items and cash donations will be accepted at the gates for all games that day at Franklin High School and free admission will be given to those who donate at least two non-perishable food items. All proceeds will go to the Twin Rivers Interfaith Food Pantry in Franklin.

NHTI Sports Management Club’s sports management conference will be held at NHTI on Friday beginning at 8:30 a.m. The event will include keynote speaker Michael McCann, who serves as the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, Professor of Law and Director of the Sports and Entertainment Law Institute at UNH Law. The event will also feature Monitor sports editor Tim O’Sullivan, Waterville Valley’s Rene Schwartz, Gunstock’s Patrick McGonagle, founder of Millennium Running, John Mortimer and many more. The conference is intended for athletic and sports-minded professionals from every level. The cost is $15 per person and $40 for a group of four. 28th annual Hopkinton New Hampshire Lions Club 5K Road Race and 2.5 Fitness Walk will be on Oct. 6. Race begins at 11 a.m. and the fitness walk will start at 11:05 a.m. The course starts and ends at Slusser Senior Center in Contoocook. Proceeds will benefit the Lions’ Sight and Hearing Programs. Cost on the day of the race is $15 for runners and $10 for walkers. If registered by Thursday, cost is $12 for runners and $8 for walkers. Friends of New England College Hockey Golf Outing is Oct. 13 at Beaver Meadow Golf Course in Concord. Registration at 11 a.m., followed by a shotgun start at noon. Cost is $125 per person, which includes 18 holes, cart, BBQ, awards and a NEC keepsake. Cost without golf is $25. 2018 UNH Ski Team Sale is scheduled for Oct. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Skis, boards, skates and apparel, both new and used, will be for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to benefit the UNH Ski Program. There will also be a free raffle for New Hampshire ski area passes. Members of the public are invited to sell their own equipment. Camps/Clinics/Lessons

FieldHouse Sports Indoor Facility Field Hockey Skills Clinics are accepting registrations (coed grades K-6). Beginners are encouraged. The next session begins Oct. 18. Clinics meet on Thursday afternoons for five-week sessions and are coached by former Bow High varsity coach Tracy Berube. Cost is $65. Register online at FieldHouseSports.com or call 226-4646.

NHTI basketball coaching clinic will be on Oct. 21 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at NHTI. The annual coaching clinic will offer topics and resources for coaches at all levels and will also include live demonstrations simulating drills with lecturers. Door prizes and a light breakfast and lunch are part of the clinic registration free. This year’s clinic will feature many of the state’s top basketball coaches and will be instructed by Jen Fithian (NHTI), Alex Tyrel (Vermont Technical College), Andrew Novick (Plymouth State), Dennis Ordway (NHIAABO), Ryan Cain (Keene State) and Jason Harris (UMass-Boston). The cost of the clinic is $60 per person or $100 for coaching staff of three or more. It is also limited to the first 80 people to sign up. Seacoast Express United will be offering six-week winter indoor soccer clinics beginning on Oct. 25. Two separate classes will be offered: a six-week Finishing Clinic and a six-week Goalkeeper Clinic. The last class will be on Dec. 6. Seacoast United Concord soccer skill classes are being offered on Friday nights starting Oct. 26 and running until Jan. 11. The program will focus on individual skills and incorporating those skills into scrimmage situations. Tryouts/Registrations

CHaD Battle of the Badges Hockey Championship is set for March 16 at SNHU Arena in Manchester. Tryouts for Team Fire are Oct. 6 (3:15-4:15 p.m). Tryouts for Team Police are Oct. 6 (2-3 p.m.). All tryouts are at Sullivan Arena at Saint Anselm College. Potential players must attend at least one tryout. Eligible participants include local and state polic officers, sheriffs, marshals, homeland security dispatchers and corrections officers; full and part-time, call, and volunteer firefighters, dispatches, and EMT/paramedics. Rosters will be announced in October with orientation, fundraising and practices beginning in November. The event and its participants raise money for Children’s Hospital at Dartmouth.
