The southbound exit ramp at Exit 2 on I-89 will be closed Tuesday, Dec. 3, for emergency bridge repairs.

Drivers heading south on I-89 who want to get off there on that day will have to get off at Exit 1 and then get back on the highway going north so they can use the northbound ramp at Exit 2.

Weather permitting, the off-ramp will be closed from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The northbound ramps and the Exit 2 southbound on-ramp will remain open.

This work is part of the $2.9 million ramp widening and signalizing project at the Exit 2 interchange, most notable so far for work done on the northbound off-ramp leading to Route 13, Clinton Street. The general contractor is B.U.R. Construction of Newport.
