Boys’ hockey: Concord dominates D-I semifinal, defeats the Hanover, 3-1

MANCHESTER – Two goals from senior forward Rowan Arndt and a nearly impeccable game from freshman goalie Carter Heise kept the Tide rolling and Concord will return to the Division I boys’ hockey championship after beating the Hanover Bears, 3-1, at JFK Coliseum on Wednesday afternoon.

The Concord girls’ hockey team returned to the final four for the first time since 2020 when they beat Hanover, for the first time in program history, in the semifinal. This time around, in their home arena, the Tide faced a very tough Hanover team (15-4) that started hot and finished strong to win, 11-2, on Tuesday night.

Bishop Brady-Trinity-Bow’s season was a huge success in many ways during the first year of the co-op’s current iteration. But it came to an end in Tuesday night’s semifinal against top-seeded Oyster River-Portsmouth who outpaced the Brinity Falcons (14-6) and scored in bunches to win, 5-1, booking a return trip to Saturday’s championship game.
Boys’ basketball: Pembroke takes down 2-time defending champs Pelham in D-II semifinal

ROCHESTER – The Pembroke Spartans led the whole way, all four quarters, every second, except the first few before sophomore forward Javien Sinclair opened the scoring with a corner 3. Pelham gave them a run for their money, especially in the third quarter, but Pembroke did not wince once and claimed the victory, 57-42, in Monday’s Division II semifinal at the Rochester Recreation Center.

Eleven players contributed points and freshman goalie Carter Heise turned away every shot he faced as the Concord High boys’ hockey team (17-2-0) advanced to the Division I semifinals with an 8-0 win over Manchester (9-9-2) on Saturday.

Sophomore forward Brooke Nelson’s performance carried the Crimson Tide to a massive victory. She scored four goals in Concord’s quarterfinal win against the No. 7 Kingswood-Prospect Mountain KnightWolves (12-8-0). Not only did she account for half of the Tide’s goals in the 8-2 win, but she also had a hat trick of assists to decisively send the Tide (15-4-0) to the final four.
