Concord 21, Manchester Memorial 12

Key players: Concord – Colby Nyhan (8-for-14, 115 pass yards, TD pass; 63 yards, TD on 14 carries; 3-for-3 kicked PAT); Trevor Craigue (41 yard TD catch; fumble recovery TD), Colin Savard (50 rush yards on 14 carries), Tim Fahnbulleh (43 yards on 6 carries), Travis Dunbar (31 receiving yards, 3 receptions)

Highlights: The Crimson Tide recovered an onside kick on the opening kickoff setting up Craigue’s first touchdown and the Concord defense had four takeaways to hand the Crusaders their first loss of the season. Fahnbulleh fumbled on the goal line/1 after an 18-yard rush and Craigue recovered the ball in the end zone to give Concord a 7-0 lead after the first quarter. Nyhan connected with Craigue for a 41-yard TD in the second quarter to make it 14-0 at halftime. Memorial scored a pair of touchdowns on the ground in the third quarter to make it 14-12, but Nyhan scored on a 6-yard run late in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.            

Records: Concord 4-1; Memorial 4-1

Girls’ Volleyball

Fall Mountain 3, Merrimack Valley 1

Key players: MV – Caydence Allberg (2 kills), Ryleigh Perry (2 kills), Rhianna Cruz (2 kills), Aubrie Austin (2 aces), Katelyn Hermann

Highlights: The Pride won its first set in program history in Wednesday night’s home match. MV tied it 1-1 before the Wildcats won the last two sets to secure the victory. Allberg, Cruz and Perry each had two kills while also contributing to strong defense at times. Austin came off the bench with some timely serving with two aces during the second set. 

Coach’s quote: “It felt great to get our first set win in program history. The girls fought hard and deserve to feel that success more often, but we need to continue to focus on doing the little things correctly, consistently.” – MV’s Tom Clark

Key players: Concord – Dean Ayotte (goal, 10 saves)

Highlights: Keene jumped to a quick 3-0 lead before Ayotte converted a free kick from 20 yards to make it 3-1. Keene pressed for two more goals before halftime. Ayotte also recorded 10 saves during the game.

Girls’ Soccer

Key players: Coe-Brown – Bella Lapierre (goal), Jadyn Spearin (assist), Sadie Scruton (8 saves), Jaelyn Demers (forward, midfield), Amanda Thomas, (defense), Jennifer Noni (midfield), Maggie Escabi (midfield), Sammy Perron (defense)

Highlights: After a well-played and tightly-played half by both teams, Lapierre connected on a through ball from Spearin to give the Bears the lead three minutes into the second half. Scruton made a huge save on a penalty kick midway through the second half to ensure the win. 

Coach's quote: “After two tough night road games under the lights we needed a good result. It was a really well-played game and MV is well-coached so a quality win against a good team helps us regain confidence. Really proud of the way the girls have handled adversity.” – Coe-Brown’s Josh Hils

Key players: H-D – Alexis Laporte (16 saves), Natalie Auger (defense), Emery Greene (defense), Molly Smart (defense)

Highlights: Auger, Greene and Smith did a good job limiting Trinity’s chances, but the Pionreers still came out on top.

Coach’s quote: “Our team stuck with Trinity’s skilled and disciplined team. I am proud of our efforts and we will take what we learned today and apply it to our game against White Mountains on Saturday.” – H-D’s Jenna Rheault
