Girls’ Hockey

Concord 3, St. Thomas-Winnacunnet-Dover 2

Key players: Concord – Brooke Nelson (goal), Claire Brown (goal), Addison Twyon (goal), Kaylee DelloIacono (13 saves); STWD – Annabel Prochilo (26 saves)

Highlights: Concord was down by two goals in the second and scored three unanswered goals to get the win. The Tide are in second place in the division.

Boys’ Basketball

Coe-Brown 63, Merrimack Valley 48

Key players: Coe-Brown – Jack Matson (21 points, 17 rebounds, 7 steals, 6 assists), James McKane (11 points, 5 rebounds), Mathew Flanagan (10 points, 4 rebounds), Ryan Kouchoukos (9 points, 8 assists, 5 rebounds), Grant Hayes (7 points, 2 assists), Bruce LaPierre (5 points, 3 assists); MV – Aiden Gray (29 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists), Nic Oglesby (10 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals)

Highlights: Coe-Brown led 28-25 at halftime. MV tied the game at 37-37 in the third, but the Bears ended the quarter on a 10-2 run and didn’t look back.

Highlights: The Falcons held Milford to just 12 first-half points and Bow was able to keep up that defense to get the win against a resilient and gritty Spartan squad.

Coach’s quote: “Defense was definitely key to victory tonight. We have to continue to play that disciplined defensively, but to make a run we are going to have to be more disciplined offensively as well. Overall a good team win with big games coming up this week.” – Bow’s Eric Saucier

Pembroke 67, Plymouth 32

Highlights: Pembroke hit 10 3-pointers and shot 7-for-8 from the foul line in a commanding victory.

John Stark 56, Souhegan 53

Key players: John Stark – Joey Dykstra (15 points, 7 rebounds), Cedar Beaupre (12 points), Aiden Harris (11 points, 9 in the 4th quarter), Hayden Pond (9 points, 4 assists, 3 steals)

Highlights: Souhegan was up two points at half, but a strong third quarter put the Generals on top to stay.

Coach’s quote: “I really liked our second half energy. Defensively and on the boards I thought the guys really got after it. This was a big win and a total team win. Our seniors stepped up, but younger guys like Carter Geaumont (6 points) and Avery Grolljahn played big.” – John Stark’s Mike Smith

Belmont 86, Raymond 36

Key players: Belmont – Keegan Martinez (29 points), Treshawn Ray (16 points), Brady Thurber (12 points)

Highlights: Martinez scored a season-high 29 points as the Raiders rolled to their eighth consecutive victory to stay on top in Division III.

Concord Christian 65, Hinsdale 61, OT

Key players: Concord Christian – Jaden Young (21 points, 11 in the 1st quarter), Luke Farland (14 points), Isaac Kirby (13 points)

Highlights: The Kingsmen’s undefeated streak nearly came to an end after Hinsdale forced overtime and took a four-point lead with 2:16 remaining, but Concord Christian went on a 13-5 run over the final two minutes to secure the victory. The Kingsmen led by six points heading into the fourth, but the Pacers outscored CCA, 12-6, in the final frame to force OT. 

Coach’s quote: “I had a feeling this game was going to be a battle and it certainly was. Hats off to Hinsdale for their and tenacity tonight. The gym was electric and it was a great test of our mental toughness. Proud of my guys for keeping their composure and gutting out a come-from-behind victory in OT.” – Concord Christian’s Greg Farland

Merrimack Valley 50, Coe Brown 38

Highlights: The Pride led 20-9 after the first quarter, 26-15 at halftime and 34-24 through the third quarter to secure its fifth win in six games.

Highlights: Pembroke raced to a 26-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. Nine players scored for the Spartans, five of them reaching double figures.

Oyster River 68, Bishop Brady 34

Key players: Bishop Brady – Claire Jackson (14 points), Hailey Whitehouse (8 points), Maia Dow (7 points)

Highlights: The Giants felt the loss of senior Payton Bryson (out due to illness) on Friday night, as the Bobcats took a 35-13 halftime lead. 

Coach’s quote: “It was a tough game for us tonight without one of our top scorers. We did see a lot of our younger players step up in the scoring category. Oyster River was just more experienced and we couldn’t stop the 3-ball. We took many open shots and had good movement, but Oyster River was just faster and made big shots.” – Bishop Brady’s Steve Aubertine

Belmont 50, Raymond 26

Key players: Belmont – Bailey Perkins (18 points)

Highlights: The Raiders led by 11 points at halftime. The Rams cut Belmont’s lead to six points by the end of the third quarter, but the Raiders outplayed Raymond in the fourth to secure the win.

Coach’s quote: “We used tough defense and patience on offense to overcome some foul trouble and come away with an important win heading into the last week of the regular season.” – Belmont’s Roger Carroll

Fall Mountain 52, Hopkinton 51

Key players: Hopkinton – Shaylee Murdough (16 points, 6 assists), Ella-Mai Johnson (14 points, three 3-pointers), Sydney Westover (10 points)

Highlights: Fall Mountain led 31-26 at the half and 45-39 after three before the teams traded leads in the 4th. The Hawks had a shot with five seconds left, but couldn’t convert as the Wildcats held on for the win.

Coach’s quote: “Great crowd, great atmosphere. Very proud of our effort tonight. We put ourselves in a position to win against one of the top teams in Division III. Need to keep this energy going into the last week.” – Hopkinton’s Mike Mahoney

Records: Fall Mtn. 12-1; Hopkinton 10-4

Monadnock 42, Kearsarge 35

Key players: Kearsarge – Miranda Anderson (9 points), Ociee Ilg (8 points), Madden Huff (6 points, two 3-pointers)

Highlights: Monadnock led 14-9 after the first quarter and 25-11 at halftime. Kearsarge cut down the deficit in the third quarter, but ultimately fell short.

Records: Monadnock 11-4; Kearsarge 6-10

Franklin 55, Farmington 50

Key players: Franklin – Kourtney Kaplan (25 points), Sage Slocum (9 points), Maddie Doherty (8 points), Lily Cornell (8 points)

Highlights: After a tight game throughout, Franklin outscored Farmington 17-10 in the fourth quarter to earn the victory.

Records: Franklin 12-3; Farmington 11-4

Highlights: Bode McLean won both the giant slalom and slalom events to lead Gilford to the top of the standings in both disciplines on Friday at Gunstock. All the teams that competed will also participate in Tuesday’s Division III championship, which we also be held at Gunstock.

Key players: Hopkinton – Lia Chapin (4th GS, 6th slalom), Anne Pearce (4th slalom, 8th GS), Avery Loew (9th GS), Marcella Guadagno (3rd slalom, 10th GS), Maddie Dwyer (10th slalom); Belmont  – Ella Stevens (1st slalom, 3rd GS), Riley DeGange (17th slalom, 18th GS), Meg Soucie (15th slalom, 24th GS), Anna McDonald (26th slalom, 33rd GS); Bishop Brady – Tess Lavoie (14th GS, 19th slalom), Natalie Sherman (18th slalom, 20th GS), Ellise Barnard (27th GS), Emma Burnett (16th slalom, 29th GS), Ella Lafore (31st slalom); John Stark – Sophie Gray (27th slalom, 32nd GS)

Highlights: The Hawks skied the most consistently throughout both the giant slalom and slalom events to close out the regular season with a victory at Gunstock on Friday. The Division III girls’ championship will be held at Gunstock on Monday, followed by the D-III boys at the same mountain on Tuesday. Stevens won the slalom by 1.2 seconds.
