Girls’ Basketball

Pembroke 44, Merrimack Valley 37

Key players: Pembroke – Anne Phillips (13 points), Kate Stephens (11 points), Kaitlin Arenella (8 points), Bailey Gatchell (6 points), Hailey Steinmetz (6 points)

Highlights: Phillips scored seven of her 13 points in the fourth quarter, as Pembroke finally pulled away from MV, outscoring the Pride 13-9 in the fourth quarter.

Bow 50, Kennett 12

Key players: Bow  – Bry Szepan (17 points), Audrey Glennon (8 points, 4 steals), Reis Domini (7 points, 12  rebounds), Ella Gray (5 points, 3 steals)

Highlights: The Falcons won their third game in a row.

Monadnock 36, Hopkinton 27

Key players: Monadnock – Bailee Soucia (11 points); Hopkinton – Shaylee Murdough (11 points, 6 rebounds), Crissy Johnson (3 points, 6 rebounds, defense)

Highlights: Both teams had their lowest scoring outputs of the season, with the Hawks failing to score in the first quarter and shototing under 20% from the field. But Hopkinton still found itself in a two-possession game until the final minute when the Huskies pulled away late.

Coach’s quote: “Frustrating loss, because I thought this was probably our best defensive effort of the year. Just couldn’t buy a basket. Crissy Johnson had a great defensive game tonight, holding Shaylee Branon, an All-State player last year, to just six points.” – Hopkinton’s Mike Mahoney

Boys’ Basketball

Hopkinton 81, Monadnock 42

Key players: Hopkinton – Kristof Cauley (17 points), Kyle Buelte (9 points); Monadnock – Liam Hart (15 points)

Boys’ Hockey

Oyster River 4, Bow 1

Key players: Bow – Landon Westcott (goal), Owen Webber (assist), Luke Hartshorn (assist)

Highlights: Oyster River scored in the first minute of the game but Bow answered right back to tie it. The Falcons controlled a lot of the offensive zone time, but Cole Harwood was solid in net for the Bobcats. Oyster River led 2-1 through two periods and the Bobcats capitalized on their chances in the third to extend their lead to 4-1.

Coach’s quote: “I thought we played very well tonight, we are just struggling to score right now. We are right there, we just need to grind out some greasy goals against very good teams like Oyster River, the top team in D-II.” – Bow’s Tim Walsh
