A Concord woman charged with theft and insurance fraud could face prison time if she’s found guilty. 

On Sunday, Kirsten Porter, 30, was arrested in connection with allegations that she caused fraudulent Medicaid claims to be filed. She was charged with theft by deception and Medicaid fraud, according to a news release from the Attorney General’s Office. 

Last year, Porter allegedly provided a false home address in Claremont on mileage reimbursement forms that she submitted to the New Hampshire Medicaid’s non-emergency medical transportation broker between June and November. By falsely claiming that she was traveling to Concord from Claremont, while living in Concord, she unlawfully obtained nearly $10,000 in Medicaid funds. 

If found guilty of the felonies, Porter could face up to 15 years in prison on theft by deception and up to 7 years in prison for both Medicaid fraud charges and would be required to pay a fine of $4,000 per charge. 

This case was investigated by the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit and was assisted by the Concord Police Department and the Attorney General’s Office.
