For the past two years, the week leading up to the Black Ice Pond Hockey Championships at White Park in Concord was an exercise in forecasting-watching and hand-wringing. Each year, organizers determined the weather just wouldn’t hold up and they pushed the annual event indoors.
This year, a recent string of frigid days has made for ideal conditions and the tournament will forge ahead. Spanning from Friday to Sunday, the tournament will bring together hundreds of hockey players from around the region for a weekend of competition and celebration. The tournament will feature six outdoor rinks and the festivities will include games, bonfires, fireworks, music and food trucks. For more information, visit blackicepondhockey.com.
According to accuweather.com, Concord could see some snow on Thursday and it will be followed by clear skies Friday through Sunday. Lows will be from the single digits to the mid-teens and highs will peak into the 30s.
