Baseball postseason tournaments just started on Thursday, but the Baseball Coaches Association of New Hampshire has already released this season’s individual awards. Coaches voted on All-State selections, Coach of the Year, Player of the Year and Pitcher of the Year in their respective divisions.

Several area players took home major awards. John Stark senior Chase Philibotte was named the Division II Player of the Year, while Bow senior Nate Kiah (D-II), Belmont junior Wyatt Divers (D-III), Bishop Brady senior Owen Thornton (D-III) and Concord Christian senior TJ Charbono (D-IV) were all voted Pitcher of the Year.

Veteran Belmont head coach Matt LeBlanc voted the Division III Coach of the Year.

Philibotte played a crucial role on the mound and at the plate this spring for the Generals, helping Stark to a 14-2 mark in the regular season and the No. 2 seed for playoffs. In eight starts on the mound he earned seven wins, striking out 89 batters in 47.2 innings pitched. Philibotte held his opponents to a .139 batting average and had an earned run average of 1.17. At the plate, Philbotte had 19 hits, including eight doubles and a home run, in 16 games, good for a .365 batting average, while also collecting 13 RBI, scoring 18 runs and stealing 11 bases.

Bow has a deep pitching corps, but Kiah stood out above the rest in the regular season, going 5-0 with a 1.31 ERA. He struck out 42 batters and allowed 10 runs in 37.1 innings, holding his opponents to a .194 batting average. Kiah especially well in clutch moments, earning wins for the No. 3 Falcons against some of their strongest opponents, including No. 2 John Stark and No. 5 Kingswood.

Thornton and Divers share the D-III co-Pitcher of the Year distinction this season. Divers went 7-0 and had two saves, allowing 21 hits, six earned runs and six walks in 42 innings, striking out 43. Divers had a 1.00 ERA this past regular season and pitched a perfect game against Berlin on May 20. He also pitched a complete game on May 28 to lock up Belmont’s top seed for the playoffs.

LeBlanc is in his 15th year as Belmont’s head coach and reached 150 career wins earlier this season. His all-time coaching record with the Red Raiders is 161-71.

Thornton, the ace of a strong Giant pitching staff, led Bishop Brady to the No. 3 seed.
