Art Abounds in New London

On the surface, the town of New London located in the Sunapee Lake Region may look like a typical small New England town, but underneath its classic exterior it is filled with locals and visitors alike who are excited and passionate about art.
The Center for the Arts (CFA) has a strong desire to promote the works of these artists, proudly helping to bring local artists and their work into the spotlight for people to view and enjoy. Four times a year, businesses and galleries transform their walls into microgalleries, offering their space as a place to display the works and talent of local artists for about three months. On the first Friday of February, May, September, and November the microgalleries display a new artist and host a free event where they provide wine and appetizers for anyone, local or visitor, who wishes to view or purchase a piece of art.
This month’s Gallery Stroll features the following artists at these New London locations:
■ Melody Wiggin at The New London Inn
■ Juliana Twomey at Blue Loon Bakery
■ Tim Sievers at the New London Barn Playhouse Fleming Center
■ Peter Yost at the Tatewell Gallery
■ Cindy Benson, Jay Fitzpatrickat and Great Island Photography at Bar Harbor Bank
■ And during hospital business hours only, new artists at the New London Hospital
The other locations of these generous local businesses and galleries are as follows:
New London Inn, Bar Harbor Bank and Trust, Blue Loon Bakery, the New London Barn Playhouse Fleming Center, Tatewell Gallery, and the New London Hospital are all accessible from Main Street in New London. Please note the New London Hospital does NOT have an opening reception but art can be seen during their business hours from 8 to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
