The Concord Monitor is the lone heir to a capital city newspaper tradition
that dates from 1808. Through the years there have been about 10 other Concord
daily newspapers, but only the Monitor survives.
Although it has been published under several different names and owners, the Monitor
has been published continuously since 1864 - the last year before the end of the
Civil War.
Our mission is to provide central New Hampshire residents with an informative,
accurate and essential newspaper and Online edition, produced with the highest
possible quality. The Monitor has been widely recognized throughout the industry
as one of the best newspapers in the nation in its circulation category. TIME
magazine recently named it one of America's "best" newspapers.
Above all, we are committed to our readers. A community newspaper belongs to
the community and we believe the Concord Monitor and the Concord Monitor Online
edition are conduits for discussion and dialogue concerning important issues we
face together.
